A small village on the ridge above Golden Bay, at the point where Malta stops being built up. Manikata is tiny, and what is available here is almost always about the setting rather than the convenience.
The lifestyle
This is as close to remote as Malta gets, which is either the appeal or the problem. There is very little in the village itself — anything beyond basics means driving to Mgarr or St Paul’s Bay, and a car is not optional. Buses are infrequent. In summer the beach road carries real traffic and the bays fill up; the village behind stays calm. Evenings are dark and quiet in a way that people arriving from a city find either restorative or unnerving. Property here comes up rarely, so anybody set on Manikata should expect to wait rather than choose.
Property in Manikata
A small market with limited turnover. Most of what appears is older stone housing — village houses and the occasional converted farmhouse — with a handful of newer builds. Outdoor space is more common than in the towns. Because supply is thin, availability rather than preference usually decides what a tenant takes, and anything with a view or a pool is asked after long before it is free.
