A modern, low-density town on the coast north of St Julian’s, built largely on former military land and unusual in Malta for having been planned rather than grown. Wide roads, open space and a lot of recent construction, with the nightlife a short drive away rather than outside the window.

The lifestyle

Pembroke feels newer and emptier than most of Malta, which people either like a great deal or find characterless. There is no old village core and little street life; shops and services are functional rather than charming. Building work is ongoing in parts, and some blocks look onto sites. The main road through it carries fast traffic. What it offers is quiet, modern housing with good access, and it is one of the few places nearby where a family can find space without moving inland.

Property in Pembroke

Predominantly newer apartment blocks, many with lifts, parking and communal facilities, alongside some larger detached and semi-detached houses. Standards are generally high because so much of the stock is recent, and outdoor space is more common than in Sliema or Gzira. Furnished and unfurnished long lets are both easy to find. Sea and open views are attainable at prices that would buy far less on the seafront proper.
