The centre of Malta’s nightlife and much of its business at the same time, which makes it two quite different places depending on the street. Paceville is the entertainment district; Balluta, Spinola and the streets climbing away from the bays are ordinary, well-connected residential areas that happen to be next to it.
The lifestyle
Where you live in St Julian’s matters more than in most Maltese towns. Within a few hundred metres of Paceville, noise on weekend nights is not a matter of opinion — it is constant, and no amount of glazing fully solves it. Move uphill or towards Balluta and it becomes a normal, pleasant residential area with the same access. Traffic through the middle is heavy at peak times. Anyone viewing here should see the flat once in daylight and once on a Friday night, and should ask specifically which direction the bedroom faces.
Property in St Julian's
Predominantly apartments, with a higher share of recent construction than most areas — lifts, air conditioning and underground parking are common in newer blocks. There is a real spread: compact flats aimed at sharers near the centre, larger family apartments and penthouses on the higher ground. Sea views and terraces command a premium. Furnished lettings dominate. Because so much local demand comes from people relocating for work, the market moves quickly and good units do not sit.
