A thin strip of housing on the coast road between Sliema and St Paul’s Bay, best known for the water park and the bay below it. Bahar ic-Caghaq is small, and living there is mostly about the sea being on one side and the road on the other.
The lifestyle
The coast road defines this address. It is the main artery between the harbour area and the north, it is busy, and in summer it is very busy — properties on the seaward side get the view and the traffic noise together. Set back from it, things are considerably calmer. There is very little here in the way of shops or services, so a car is necessary and most errands mean driving to Naxxar, Swieqi or St Paul’s Bay. The water park brings families and traffic in season. For somebody who wants sea views without harbour-town prices and does not mind driving, it works well.
Property in Bahar ic-Caghaq
A small market. Mostly apartments, many built to face the sea, with some villas on the higher ground behind. Sea-view flats here are less expensive than their equivalents in the towns, which is the main reason people look. Newer blocks have lifts and parking; older stock can be dated. Availability is limited simply because the area is small, so timing matters more than choice.
