A small village on the road down from Victoria towards Xlendi, built along a valley with a spring at its heart. Effectively a suburb of Victoria, and one of the most convenient addresses on Gozo.
The lifestyle
Fontana is the most practical of the Gozitan villages simply because of where it sits — a short walk from Victoria’s shops, schools and hospital, and a short drive from Xlendi. The valley setting makes it greener and more sheltered than the ridge villages. It is small and residential; the village itself has little beyond a shop or two, but it does not need more. The road through carries the Xlendi traffic, which is noticeable in summer on that stretch. Year-round living works better here than in the scenic villages, which is reflected in a rental market aimed at residents rather than holidaymakers.
Property in Fontana
Townhouses and maisonettes make up much of the stock, with apartments in newer blocks. Less holiday-letting competition than the coastal villages, so long lets are more available. Prices are moderate for the convenience. Both furnished and unfurnished occur.
