A small, orderly residential village in the centre of the island, between Lija and Naxxar. Iklin is almost entirely housing — quiet streets, low blocks and maisonettes — and is chosen by people who want a calm home base with the middle of Malta on the doorstep.

The lifestyle

Iklin is quiet to the point of being sleepy, which is the reason people move there. There is very little commercial activity — a few local shops and not much else — so eating out, shopping and evenings mean driving to Lija, Mosta or further. It has no seafront and no old core of any size. For families and couples who want an uncomplicated home in a settled area it works well; for anyone wanting things to do within walking distance it will feel empty.

Property in Iklin

Mostly maisonettes and low-rise apartments, with some terraced houses and a scattering of larger properties. Outdoor space — a yard, a roof terrace — is common. Stock is generally newer and better maintained than in the older villages nearby. Unfurnished lets are frequent, which suits tenants planning to stay a while and bring their own things.
