The third of the Three Villages, known for its trees, its old houses and a quiet that is unusual this close to the middle of the island. Lija is small, established and residential, with very little that is new.
The lifestyle
Lija is quiet, old and small, and the people who live there tend to have chosen it deliberately. There is a village square, a church and not a great deal else in the way of commerce — everyday shopping happens in Birkirkara or Mosta. Streets in the core are narrow and parking is a real constraint. As with Balzan, much of the appeal is the old housing, and much of the work is the old housing.
Property in Lija
Mostly older and larger: houses of character, villas and townhouses, with only a small number of apartments. Gardens and courtyards are common, which is unusual and much of the reason people look here. Stock is limited and moves slowly. Condition ranges from fully restored to barely touched, and rents reflect that more than the address does.
