One of Malta’s largest towns, built around its enormous domed church and busy in its own right rather than as somewhere people pass through. Mosta has a proper centre, real shops and a full range of housing, and is well placed for anyone working across the island.

The lifestyle

Mosta is a working Maltese town, not an expat enclave, and feels different from Sliema or St Julian’s for that reason — more Maltese spoken, more everyday commerce, fewer people passing through. The centre is busy and the traffic around the rotunda is heavy at peak times. Away from the main streets it is ordinary and residential. Anyone wanting an international, English-speaking bubble will find it less familiar; anyone wanting to live in Malta rather than beside it usually likes it.

Property in Mosta

The widest range of the central towns: modern apartments and maisonettes on the edges, older townhouses and houses of character near the core, and everything between. Prices are markedly lower than the coast, and space is correspondingly greater. Condition varies a great deal, particularly in the older stock, so viewing several is worthwhile. Unfurnished lets are common.
