The industrial heart of the inner harbour, and one of the busiest and least pretty parts of Malta. Marsa is also central, extremely well connected and among the cheapest places on the island to rent.
The lifestyle
Marsa is honest about what it is. It carries the island’s heaviest traffic, the port and the industrial estates are neighbours, and air quality and noise are genuine considerations rather than minor ones. Parts of it are run-down. It is also very central, very cheap and very well connected, and for someone working in the harbour or in logistics the commute is negligible. This is a place chosen for practical reasons; nobody moves to Marsa for the setting, and a guide that pretended otherwise would be no use.
Property in Marsa
Older townhouses and maisonettes make up most of the stock, with apartments in blocks of varying age and condition. Standards vary a great deal street to street and viewing in person matters more here than anywhere. Rents are among the lowest on the island. Unfurnished lettings are common.
