A large town at the head of the southern harbour, built around a big square and a strong local identity. Paola is central for the south, well connected, and among the cheaper towns within easy reach of Valletta.

The lifestyle

Paola is a busy, working town with a strong sense of itself and not much that is aimed at outsiders. The centre and the main roads are noisy and parking is difficult; residential streets behind them are ordinary and calmer. It is well placed for anyone working in Valletta or the Three Cities, and poorly placed for anyone heading north each morning. Housing is plentiful and cheap by island standards.

Property in Paola

Apartments and maisonettes in quantity, with older townhouses in the core. Rents are low relative to the access on offer. Condition varies widely, particularly in older buildings. Unfurnished lets are common. Space per euro is good, and the trade is noise and density rather than distance.
