An old central village that has grown a great deal around its historic core. Naxxar offers village character with modern housing around it, and sits close enough to the middle of the island that most places are a reasonable drive.
L-istil ta’ ħajja
Naxxar is a family town. The old centre is attractive and quiet; around it are newer residential developments that are ordinary but comfortable, with the usual local shops and schools. There is little nightlife and not much to walk to in the evening, so social life tends to involve driving. Main roads through the area carry commuter traffic and are busy at peak times. It is a place chosen for the home rather than for what is outside the door.
Propjetà fi Naxxar
A broad mix: apartments and maisonettes in the newer parts, townhouses and houses of character in and around the old core, and villas on the outskirts. Properties with terraces, yards or gardens are far more common than in the coastal towns. Unfurnished long lets are more common here than in the expat-heavy areas, which suits people bringing their own furniture and planning to stay.
