A working fishing village in the south-east, best known for its painted luzzu boats and its Sunday market. Marsaxlokk is small, picturesque and genuinely still a fishing port, which makes it unlike anywhere else to live — and a long way from everything else.
The lifestyle
Marsaxlokk is small and lives around its harbour. Sundays bring the market and a great many visitors, which is charming and also means traffic and no parking; the rest of the week is quiet. It is a long drive to the main business areas and public transport is slow, so this is not a practical base for a daily commute north. The power station’s conversion improved the air and the outlook considerably, but the industrial south is still nearby and visible in places.
Property in Marsaxlokk
A small market: apartments, some older townhouses and houses of character near the core. Stock is limited and turnover slow, so choice at any moment is narrow. Waterfront properties are the most desirable and rarely available. Prices are low by coastal standards. Older properties vary widely in condition and modernisation.
