A small town on the harbour between Floriana and Msida, best known for the main hospital. Pieta is busy, central and among the cheaper places to rent this close to Valletta and the university.
The lifestyle
Pieta is dominated by the roads that run through it, which are heavy at peak times and noisy along the front. Behind them the streets are ordinary and much calmer, with some good older housing. It is not a scenic town and has little in the way of nightlife or shopping beyond the everyday. What it has is position and price: very central, and noticeably cheaper than its neighbours on either side.
Property in Pieta
Apartments and older townhouses, some divided into flats. A high share of tenants are students and hospital staff, so smaller units and sharing arrangements are well represented. Condition varies and the difference between a modernised flat and an original one is stark at similar rents. Harbour-facing units carry a premium and the traffic that comes with the front.
