The town immediately outside Valletta’s gate, inside the same fortifications and often mistaken for part of the capital. Floriana is grand, green in places and much quieter than its position suggests.
The lifestyle
Floriana fills with commuters and government workers in the day and empties in the evening, leaving it quieter at night than most of Malta. Parking is genuinely difficult and permits matter. The housing is old and often beautiful, with the maintenance, stairs and insulation that implies — lifts are rare. It suits people working in Valletta above all, and anyone who wants the capital’s architecture without its foot traffic.
Property in Floriana
Mostly apartments carved out of older buildings, with some whole townhouses. Ceilings are high and rooms generous; light and floor level vary a great deal between properties. Standards range from carefully restored to barely modernised. Supply is limited and slow-moving. Some stock has been drawn into short-let use, which thins what is available for long lets.
