A dense, largely modern resort town on the headland east of St Paul’s Bay, built around tourism and now a substantial residential area too. Qawra is affordable, walkable within itself, and unashamedly built up.
The lifestyle
Qawra is dense and modern, with high-rise blocks along the front and a grid of apartment buildings behind. In summer it is full and lively in a resort way; in winter a good deal of it closes and the streets go quiet. It is not picturesque and does not pretend to be. For people who want a cheap, functional flat near the sea with shops on foot, it does the job better than most; for anyone wanting character or year-round bustle it will disappoint.
Property in Qawra
Almost entirely apartments, much of it built for holiday use and let long-term out of season. Standards range from very basic to genuinely good, and the difference is not always reflected in the rent — viewing matters here more than most places. Sea-view flats are plentiful and cheap by Maltese standards. Furnished is the default. Winter-only lets are common and worth avoiding if a full year is needed.
