A large inland town in the centre-west with a substantial historic core, one of Malta’s older settlements and still recognisably one. Zebbug offers character housing and space at prices well below the coast.

The lifestyle

Zebbug is a working Maltese town with a fine old core and ordinary residential areas around it. It is quiet, inexpensive and local, with little aimed at foreign residents. The main roads through it are busy at peak times. It is a reasonable drive from most of the island and a poor one from Sliema at rush hour. For anyone who wants an old house with a courtyard and does not need the coast, it is among the better-value places on the island.

Property in Zebbug

Good stock of houses of character and townhouses in and around the core, with apartments and maisonettes in the newer parts. Courtyards and generous room sizes are common. Prices are low relative to the equivalent inland villages nearer the centre. Older properties vary widely in condition and many need work. Unfurnished lets are the norm.
