Gozo’s harbour, where the ferry lands, with a marina, a row of restaurants along the front and a steep hill of houses above. Mgarr is small, attractive and the point of arrival for the whole island.
The lifestyle
Mgarr is busiest in the half hour around each sailing and quiet in between, which gives it an unusual rhythm. The hill up from the harbour is steep, and where a property sits on it matters a great deal for the walk home. There is little in the way of shops beyond the essentials — Ghajnsielem and Victoria cover that. For anyone crossing to Malta often it is the most convenient address on Gozo, and for anyone who simply likes boats and water it is the most pleasant.
Property in Mgarr Gozo
A small market, mostly apartments, with the harbour-view units the ones people want and the ones rarely available. Some townhouses on the hill. Prices are higher than the inland villages and still well below equivalent waterfront property in Malta. Stock is limited, so timing matters more than negotiation.
